Overconfidence’s Close Friend – Narcissism

When psychologist Madeline Levy, PhD titled a talk, “Parenting the Average Child” hardly anyone pitched up; the reason she believed is, nobody thinks their child is average. The amount of bragging on “Fakebook” about our children’s achievements is nauseating, I hope to G-d that I am not one of the culprits ?.

According to psychology professor Jean M. Twenge, PhD; parents alone are not the only ones who think they are special. She analysed the Narcissistic Personality Inventory (NPI) score of 16,475 American college students  between 1979 and 2006 and found that one out of four students in recent generations show elevated rates of narcissism. In 1985, that number was only one in  seven.

Ok so where am I going with this observation – we cannot all be above average.
