The Evil Inside

I think it is safe for me to say that we have all felt some embarrassment about something bad we have done, or about a bad character trait such as being greedy or lazy. For most of us we find it very difficult to confront these emotions about the evil inside so we suppress these emotions or we project them onto other people as a coping mechanism.

Most religions deal with the “evil inclination” of man. I will leave the theological explanation for the clergy. However I will explain the above paragraph using my psychological guiding light, CG Jung and the Shadow.

The shadow is everything that we have denied in ourselves and cast into oblivion, or rather everything that the ego has refused to associate with itself, but that we can notice in other people — such things might include our sexuality, spontaneity, aggression, instincts, cowardice, carelessness, passion, enthusiasm, love of material possessions. It embraces all those sins, dark thoughts, and moods for which we felt guilt and shame.

I have so much more to share on this subject but for the sake of this weeks message I will get to the point. As traders we make mistakes all the time because of bad character traits, it doesn’t matter how good you are as a trader your weaknesses in character are bound to lead to mistakes. Newbie traders tend to make even more mistakes.

This week I ask you to acknowledge your mistakes, try find them if they are not obvious, use your “PsyQuation” alerts and the PsyQuation Score to help. The antidote to the shadow (the evil inside) is acknowledging its existence. Don’t be shy lets talk about it and slowly you will see how the shadow shrinks losing its power and its grip over your life and in our world, your trading account. The best advice I can give you is to write about the things you don’t like about yourself in a journal, or reply to this email and share them with me and I will do my best to help you.
